ActivitiesThere are several on site activities at Lough Cutra Estate. We offer pike fishing (fly or spinner) on our private 1000 acre lake - you will be the only boat on the lake allowing complete concentration on the sport at hand. During the season there is also driven pheasant and duck shooting combining an energetic day out with a fine lunch in the Castle. Around the Estate are a variety of trails offering exploration opportunities for walking, running, cycling, bird watching and nature enthusiasts in unspoilt woodlands and pasture. Since our wedding, we have continued to receive compliments about our choice of venue, particularly our guests from abroad who were bowled over by the setting. The terrace proved ideal for the drinks reception and the beautiful rooms inside were the perfect layout for dinner, dancing and relaxing. We also took the three guest cottages for a week to accommodate both families which was a great idea, as everyone had a chance to get to know each other and relax. Everyone was thrilled with the cottages which were so spacious and well equipped. During the run up to the day, Edward was both patient and helpful with all our questions and his recommendations for catering and bar service were a complete success. Lough Cutra Castle and Estate has a long and varied history with both highs and lows, including famine relief to the billeting of soldiers, a period as a convent and life as a private home. It was designed by John Nash who worked on Buckingham Palace, and was visited by guests such as Lady Augusta Gregory and WB Yeats.
